Struts Validator framework client side validation

I have included frameworkvalidator in my project and add client side validation with

    
<html:javascript formName="loginForm"/>

and

    
<html:form action="login.do" onsubmit="validateLoginForm(this);">

All works correctly if i use

<html:submit value="Login" />

but if i use

    
<a submitForm() rel="nofollow">Login</a>

function submitForm(){
 if (validateLoginForm(document.forms[0])) {
    document.forms[0].submit();
 }
 return false;
}

it works but html:errors are not displayed. I have alert but after clicking on ok button html:errors are not displayed.

Why ?
