I am currently developing a game in java and I need to know how to add sounds to my game, my teacher suggested me to not use applets, but I don't know. I have not the slightest clue on how to add sounds to the game and I would appreciate if anybody could either show me a guide or a tutorial where I can learn how to add sounds to my game or explain how am I supposed to do to make things work.

Basically I want to have music the moment I run the game, not a function where I click to get the sound, I have googled around, but all I can find is applets, isn't there a way to avoid applets or do I really have to use applets in order for the sound to work in my game?

Thanks in advance!

You might want to have a look at OpenAL: https://joal-demos.dev.java.net/. There are also some starting tutorials on this site.
