user's viewpoint synchronization problem

Hi. I have no solution, still for my problem. Maybe its easy, but for now is a problem.
It's sort of chat application. I am receiving some response text from server into my div block.But, when I receive that amount of text, which requires scrolling, the viewpoint of new data isnt show. The box won't to be scrolled to the newly received data but it stays at the begin on div.In that case, user need to scroll down in order to see new data. Can I perform this things to occurs automatically - scrolling to the new (latest) data to occurs right after the new data has arrived and populate div box by appending it at the end of the existing content?
What would you advice me to do?

It won't work. Sometimes does, but sometimes not. I am using JQuery, and maybe some problems occurs due to that?
