If you're looking for documentation on the Java Collections framework, try this Sun tutorial. If you're looking for a book that covers data structures and related algorithms in a broader sense, I'd recommend Data Structures and Algorithms in Java (2nd Edition) by Robert LaFore.

I think this book is quite useful. It covers both generics and the Java collections.

http://www.amazon.com/Java-Generics-Collections-Maurice-Naftalin/dp/0596527756/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1259635202&sr=8-1

But as always be sure to check it out carefully before you buy so you know it corresponds to your specific needs.
