Hi

Kept on reading from many sires that Index will help Database engine to do search faster .

For example i have student table with many columns and i had created a index on one of the field



Could anyone please tell me how this helps DB Engine ??

Actually your question can be rephrased to the non-computer variety... "How does the index in the back of an encyclopedia book help users search for information?". The answers are remarkable similar.
