actionPerformed method problem for filechooser

I have question on actionPerformed method.
does this method runs on thread ?

as i can see in my code i have scenario as below :
(Its abstract from my code base : )

here whenever i print that path string i get null .
how to get path which is set in action method ? please provide example so that i can understand it.

What is abstract?

From what code you have posted, I see two problems to start with
1) Nobody is calling actionPerformed
2) You are not showing the file chooser dialog.
