This year's FRC (First robotics competition challenge is robot soccer - also called Breakaway. The game was announced yesterday and now high school teams have 6 weeks to build a robot that can compete in the game.

I know we have a couple here who are involved in FIRST. (Michael Ernest I know because he tweeted it and there were some discussions last year - don't recall whom.) So logically, I posted here.

I think the game looks harder than the last few years. It looks cooler though and fun to watch!

I have two goals of posting here:
1) To discuss robot soccer
2) To ask those who follow soccer whether they think it is similar (I'm not to aware of soccer, but it seems like there would be a lot less passing here.)

* I'm in the United States, so when I say "soccer", I mean what the rest of the world calls football.

I deployed shortly after that post. My guess is you caught it mid-deployment.

We won! Team 694 won in the NYC regional robotics competition. We had the most hangs of anyone, came in seeded fifth, got picked by the first team for the alliance and won.

You can see us in the quarter finals on you tube. We are Donovan - the red robot in the middle section.
