I want to ask you something. Iam looking to give SCJA certification from Sun Microsystems. Is it worth of giving SCJA Certification than SCJP Certification ?
My colleagues are giving SCJP directly and not SCJA.

But what iam trying to do i want to start with the basic first. I want to give SCJA first which would build my condifence and knowledge, and prepare myself to take the next step for SCJP. I want to go step by step.
This would count 2 Certifications for my Career as well.
Am i going in the right direction ?

Thank you

I think both your approach and logic make the most sense.

Yes, SCJA will cover the basics, help you get a solid ground in Java and J2EE technologies, and perhaps even more importantly, give you confidence in the certification process.

SCJA doesn't go as deep into syntax as SCJP, but it does cover more technologies. I'd prefer a junior programmer to understand J2EE, OOA&D, server technologies, client technologies, JSPs, Servlets, EJBs, and how all of those technologies are used in a Java environment, as opposed to someone who knows all of the esoteric snytax details of the PrintWriter. So, the SCJA exam is a great exam to have to walk into your first Java job interview.

Get your SCJA, and then get an SCJP as well. Getting Sun certs is addictive. You'll look much better with those two certs than someone that has solely focussed on just getting one.
