When I use the following code, the request time expression is not being evaluated on the server and it is just showing up in the html. What am I doing wrong? (I had to mispell "onmoseover" so that javaranch would accept my post) Thanks in advance.

No problem.
String mooseOver = "swapImage('about','" + request.getContextPath() + "/images/over.gif');";
<html:link action="logon" onmooseover='<%= mooseOver %>' >
