Application not Available

Trying to develop my first JSP and deploy it in Tomcat. Doing the tutorial in "Heads First Servlets....."

I've got an HTML form, form.html in C:\xampp\tomcat\webapps\Beer-v1

As a deployment descriptor, I have a web.xml under C:\xampp\tomcat\webapps\Beer-v1\WEB-INF\web.xml

Yet when I stop and restart Tomcat and go to http://localhost:8080/Beer-v1/form.html

I get a "This application is not currently available" message. Why would this be?

regards,

Karen

The first place to look is the log files.

Something as simple as a web.xml that is not correct XML will prevent Tomcat from recognizing the Beer-v1 directory as having an application. Starting with plain HTML is an excellent idea, once you get that displayed you can be sure that Tomcat recognizes your application.
