I cleared SCJP with 81%- Not a really good score to flaunt but a satisfying PASS Had i been more active on the SCJP Forum i could hav got a better score. Started preparing seriously in the last 3 weeks. But a prior programming experience in Java helped me a lot. The exam isn't tough, its tricky.

Few suggestions to the SCJP aspirants-
>> Purchase Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates SCJP Guide- This is bang on target book
>> Optionally one can refer- Khalid Mughal SCJP Guide- Its a bit bulky than K&B. And the explanation is not simple.
>> Head First Java will help in solving the Drag and Drop - Lucky to hav referred that long back
>> Code and Code- Things (especially the API stuff) will retain for a longer time if you code a lot.
>> Use ExamLab- The best Mock exam software- Its FREE- Tons of thanks to Devaka Cooray for the superb tool- The interface is damn similar to the real exam engine and also the report obtained at the end of each exam is on par wit the actual report. So solve 5 exams from there and review each and every question- see why you answered it correctly and why you answered it wrong. Though the level of questions in this is higher- i got some 59% on an average in these. But you can learn a lot from this tool.
>> Use the SCJP Forum here to post u'r queries- You hav lots of people waiting to answer
>> Be through with all the topics cause you dont know which objective is being tested in the exam.

Thanks a lot for the help JavaRanch has provided- be it in the form of a Forum and the FAQs

With a bit more effort one can score really high. And what i feel about SCJP is that you get to know a lot of Java concepts when you are preparing for it

Hi
Mohamed Sanaulla

You are bartender, why you are not able score 90+ marks in the exam. Which area you feel very tough in the exam. Iam going to write next week.

regards
nathan

I wasnt well prepared when I took the exam. I think I was weak in Generics and few topics related to deployment. And a score of 90+ doesn't indicate one is really good in Java.

Frankly I havent used my SCJP score anywhere so far. Its just how much and how well you can code in Java that matters.
