Hi all,

I was preparing for SCDJWS (Sun Certified Developer For Java Web Service) but unfortunately, today it has been announced that Oracle acquired Oracle and that operation is over

Question is what will be the future of "Sun Certifications" such as SCDJWS ... etc

I doubt that has much impact on the certification programs in the short or medium term, apart from becoming the OCDJWS. Nothing has been announced, though.

I see new Certifications such as those for JSF and JPA. Maybe gradually Oracle is planning to inject its (JDeveloper and Oracle ADF) certifications.

Good news old Certifications still exist

But I noticed the absence of "Sun Certified Java Developer", what a loss !!!

Look again - it's actually the prerequisite for all other certifications.

Hi,

Ulf Dittmer :-
We are talking about the SCJD (Sun Certified Java Developer) not the (Sun Certified Java Programmer).

Fernando Franzini:
You do not have to take any of the new Certifications because you already have previous ones which proves you have the very robust foundation knowledge. I think instead of going into technical Certifications such as JSF certifications (Which are more technical and is more likely to change frequently due to the high speed in which technology advances), there are other Certifications on the market from Stable vendors that are worthy to consider and look at such as

--> IBM Certified Solution Designer - OOAD
--> IBM RAD Certifications
--> IBM SOA Certifications ... etc.
--> Certifications from OMG

Those Certifications certainly builds on the Certification path we started with Sun

I think it is still available. Check out this link below:
http://www.sun.com/training/certification/java/scdjws.xml

It has been updated with Oracle information and brand etc. but the old test (number, cost, format everything) seem to be still there. I think we can take the exam as planned.

What do you people think?
