This week's book giveaway is in the OCAJP 8 forum. We're giving away four copies of OCA Java SE 8 Programmer I Study Guide and have Edward Finegan & Robert Liguori on-line! See this thread for details.
Hello, my application is a sort of full screen display board. As such, I would like to be able to prevent the operating system from starting a screensaver or turning the monitor off, but without using a trick such as moving the cursor. Is there any way to do this elegantly? I would like it to work cross-platform if possible but I mostly care about Windows computers.
If your application is going to fiddle with my machine settings, I am not sure I would want to do business with you in the future
If I am not mistaken XP has an option where you can define you do not want the screen saver to run when any full screen application is running. In short let the user do his own settings.
It wouldn't be fiddling with any settings, only preventing the screensaver from starting while the application is running. I am pretty sure that many applications do this, just like some prevent Windows from going into Sleep mode while they are running.
