prob in acessing system services

hi all,
I want to access the system services from my java application..
I am using a win2000 OS ,and SQLServer. want to know whether the server is running or stopped from my java application.

Unless you'd be so kind as to delete your first post here? That would delete the thread, which would save some overworked bartender or sheriff from having to close it.
