JSF 2: Will we be able to mix RichFaces with ICEfaces with PrimeFaces with...?

Hi Ed, hi Chris,

the most annoying problem with current implementations is: different AJAX frameworks behind the scenes that don't allow to really mix components from different vendors. Will we be able to mix different JSF 2 framework implementations (RichFaces with ICEfaces, etc.) to use best of bread?

Yes, you should be able to. Things may be a little rough at first, and I know the RichFaces Team has found some holes with it, but for basic stuff it should work well enough.

When we wrote the Ajax portion of the JSF 2.0 specification better component library compatibility was one of the requirements - hence in the specification you will see the basics of a JSF Ajax framework. We had great contributions from our Expert Group members representing the major JSF Ajax frameworks: RichFaces, ADFFaces, ICEFaces. As folks incorporate JSF 2.0 into their JSF 2 Ajax frameworks, we will further refine the specification. But what we have is a solid foundation.

I should also point out that ICEFaces 2.0 has just been released, RichFaces 4.0 is in progress, ADFFaces is in progress w/r/t JSF 2.0.

I thought that was Alpha 2 for ICEfaces 2.0, did I miss an announcement?
