Not directly related to algorithms, but the book Code Complete from Steve McConnell is a must-read. (amazon-link)

I used Algorithm Design by Kleinberg and Tardos (0-321-29535-8) for my Advanced-Algorithms course in college. If you're serious about algorithms I would recommend it. Not sure how well it is for real-world situations (for lack of better words) but of the few books I've used to study for the exam, this one was the best.
