Hi all.
Good Morning.

I am Rushi. I am planning to submit my resume for Java developer position. My educational qualification is BS and MBA. Is it advisable to put my MBA on resume for Java developer positions. Will it become a negative point for hiring or adds to the value of my experience. I have 4 years of Java developer experience.

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

It is useful. It's something you have that not everyone else does!

There is no harm in mentioning MBA under education. But be prepared in the interview to answer a question something like

Q. What do you like about software development?

A. You can give your reasons for liking software development and also mention that acquiring an MBA qualification has helped you look at things from not only technology perspective, but also from a business perspective. You can also expand on it by illustrating as to how it had helped you identify gaps in reuirements, commuincate more effectively, etc. All depends on how your present yourself.

You can also have multiple resumes depending on the role you are applying for, you can give more or less prominence for your MBA and related experience. Targeted resumes are the way to go.

Thanks Jeanne, Arul.

That helps a lot. I was thinking a small organization may think it is too much of a qualification and we just need 3-4 yrs Java experience and he may not stick to us for long time and let us pick someone else...

I will prepare two kinds of resumes and try my luck.

Thanks once again.
