Hi Bala Jee,

I am here to start with you for the SCJP 6 preparation . I am also new to the same and is willing to crack the same. Like Ankit,I also do feel that we should go for SCJP6 rather then SCJP5. Almost there is not much difference. But latest is always in demand. Please let me know whether you are ready or not? I am 100% ready to continue. Let me know then we can try with first difference between SCJP5 n SCJP6.

Waiting for reply...

Hi BJ,

Its nice to see your reply. So we both are ready for the SCJP6. Yes you are right that before starting with anything we should be knowing each other and should fix some schedule for the same. I currently working as a software engineer with an IT company in Chandigarh, India. Platform is java. But all the work in office is not enough to get perfect. So i made my mind to crack the exam with thorough studies. My timing is 9 to 7. I could be available only after 8 PM for proper studies. Saturday and Sunday is off for us and so we could do much on weekend. Let me also have a brief introduction of yourself.

Thanks.

Here is the difference between SCJP5 and SCJP6 :

How is the SCJP 1.6 exam different from the SCJP 1.5?

* Exam objectives:

Several new API classes/interfaces have been added:
java.io.Console,
java.util.NavigableSet,
java.util.NavigableMap.

Explicit garbage collector calls (i.e. System.gc()) will no longer be tested, but candidates will still be expected to understand garbage collection and the finalize() method.

Also, the following topics will be tested in greater depth: exception handling, collections, assertions, threads, and flow control. See the SCJP forum for more details.

For SCJP 6:
* Number of questions: 72 (no change)
* Time: 210 minutes (increased from 175 minutes)
* Passing score: 65% (increased from 59%)
* Format of questions: No change.

For SCJP 5:

* Other exams/assignments required: None
* Exam type: Multiple choice and drag and drop
* Number of questions: 60
* Pass score: 58.33% (35 of 60 questions)
* Time limit: 180 minutes

Note that this information, and a lot more, is also in the JavaRanch SCJP FAQ.

Hi Guys,

All of you are welcomed to the forum. I would suggest you all to start studying seriously. And if any issue you face or new thing you have learnt , kindly please post it to the forum as this will be motivation to others and moreover we will be confident to o time answers what we have learnt. Since its not possible for everyone to start preparing with the IM, so its preferable to get serious to work and try to post each day a new post for any issue/new thing because if you will study obviously you will face some issue. So all the very best.

Thanks.
