I'm not sure what you're asking. You may need to set the CATALINA_HOME environment variable. %catalina_home% would be how to refer to an environment variable in DOS. (I don't know if they're case-sensitive in DOS or not.)

Are you having a specific problem?

You should not need to set CATALINA_HOME, the script files should do that for you.

Emphasis added. If you do set CATALINA_HOME, the externally-provided setting will override the script files. The default value set in the scripts is the parent directory of the script being executed. In other words, the net effect would be if you set CATALINA_HOME and executed $CATALINA_HOME/bin/catalina/sh (Unix) or %CATALINA_HOME%\bin\catalina.bat (Windows)
