I am bit late into the scene but I always had this doubt.
Will Oracle's takeover of Sun affect Java?
What will be Java's future?
And what will be the effect of this on the certifications.
I am about to take SCBCD.So I thought I should clear my doubts before I move ahead.

I would think that Oracle has a vested interest in keeping the certification program going, so I wouldn't worry about it. (Oracle itself has a strong program too.)
