java.io.IOException: Broken pipe

Hi All,

I am trying to make application implementing NIO using nonblocking socket , some part which I have developed (off course getting it from the net )

public void handleWrite(SelectionKey key,byte[] byteType) throws IOException {
					
		try{
			if (key.isValid()){
				ByteBuffer buf = (ByteBuffer) key.attachment();
				buf.clear();
				buf.put(byteType);
				buf.flip(); 
				SocketChannel clntChan = (SocketChannel) key.channel();
				if (clntChan.isConnected()){
					clntChan.write(buf);
				}
				if (!buf.hasRemaining()) { 
					key.interestOps(SelectionKey.OP_READ);
				}
				buf.compact(); 
			}
		}catch(Exception e){
			Log.getLogger().error("Unable to write the data to the device . Reaseon:"+e.getMessage());
		}
	}

but am getting the following error :

Unable to write the data to the device . Reaseon:Broken pipe 
java.io.IOException: Broken pipe 

by the way the error indicate that it occurs at line

clntChan.write(buf);
