nesting tags-- pg:pager, html:rewrite

I want to be able to build a url based upon the context like you can using the html:rewrite tag and use the result as the url parameter of the pg:p ager tag. However, when I attempt to nest the tags this way, the inner tag doesn't resolve. I have not been able to find a nested version of the pager tag.

Any suggestion on what would be the best way to accomplish this?
