I'm a big fan of Craig Walls' Spring in Action. I use it regularly. The 2nd edition I have is from 2008. A third edition is coming out later this year. FWIW.

The documentation from Spring is very useful also: http://www.springsource.org/documentation

Thanks for the reply Glenn.

Does this book cover spring 2 ?
Are there many differences between spring 2 and spring 3. I havent used both so I wont know about it.
Does the book come with a cd or demo source code?

Thanks

this is from the javaranch FAQ:

I want to buy a couple of books about Java. What do you recommend?

The Spring 3 is in "early access" which means you can buy the PDF now, read it as chapters come out and get the finished copy when it prints. Coincidentally we are running a promo for that book starting tomorrow and the author will be around all week. So come back on Tuesday and ask anything you'd like about the book!

Hi Justin,

How about starting from the man who created Spring itself?

Expert One-on-One J2EE Development without EJB by Rod Johnson

There may be other better books but this will give you an idea about what led to the development of Spring and how.

Thanks for the reply.

Lucky me. Just in time.

The Expert One-on-One J2EE Development without EJB, I dont think it is a beginners book right.

Thanks
