Questions on book

Hi Craig,

I have following questions.

  • Does this book contains some fast track chapters for someone who has good knowledge of spring 2.5?
  • I went through table of contents, what I found missing is Spring MVC. Is it covered in creating Web Front End?
  • Does securing spring chapter contains detail information on spring security?

No..didn't miss your question. I just am not able to read these all day long...I only get a few hours in the evening and a few random hours through the day to look at them...just now getting to yours.

But...yes, the book starts out assuming you don't know Spring at all. But you can turn to any page and pick up at the point where your experience allows. I wouldn't say that there's a specific chapter to start on if you're already experienced with Spring 2.5...but you should be able to scan and find where you should start.

Yes, the web front end (horrible title...maybe I'll fix it) is Spring MVC. The REST chapter will also cover some Spring MVC.

And yes, the "Securing Spring" chapter covers Spring Security in quite some detail.

Does the book contains spring performance tips, best practices, tunning? How about design patterns?

Actually I am sorry the way I said. I understand Craig is not compelled to answer every question and he is guest at JR. I was looking for good book on SpringMVC and Spring Security for long time. And I was over anxious to get answer to my question. Sorry again.

No problem at all. I just wanted to remind everyone that there's a real chance that I may *not* get to your questions right away or even at all. My day job and family take a lot of my time...and you've probably heard by now that I'm trying to finish up a book project...all consuming time. I wasn't offended or upset...just wanting to set expectations.

Oh...and I do thank you all for letting me sit in on the conversation this week. I'd really like to spend more time in this forum...and sometimes I do lurk around in here.
