Two key things have changed in Spring MVC 3 from Spring MVC 2.5:
- The @PathVariable annotation makes it possible to write controllers that react to RESTful URLs.
- ContentNegotiatingViewResolver makes it possible for a single controller to serve HTML, JSON, XML, Atom, RSS, or other types of views based on either a URL's file extension, the HTTP Accepts header, or a URL parameter.
