We have been developing using Spring 2.5 since it was out. Is migration as easy as replacing the libraries? Are they backward compatible?

For the most part, yes. Be aware, however, that the big uber spring.jar file no longer exists. If you're using that, you'll need to start including the individual module JARs instead.

There may be some places where it's not a simple JAR replacement...but I can't remember any of those right now.
