I just ordered your book at Amazon! What a pitty, a free copy is useless for me! But the topic is worth some bucks! And your book is far the only one for that subject.
pete reisinger wrote:Welcome to the forum, my question is: if I'm new to JPA but tried Hibernate, should I get this book or something like "starting with JPA". Basically I want to ask if the book expects the reader to know JPA or there's some introduction to get started.
Thanks
This is best asked in its own topic - this is a welcome topic after all. Its more likely to get answered and you would be eligable for the book draw.
the blurb about the book looks promising - I might actually have to go and buy it - if I don't win it

I have seen things you people would not believe, attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion, c-beams sparkling in the dark near the Tennhauser Gate. All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain.

It's a nice book.
Many examples , how to use with EJB and many more..
Its a bit complicated though for beginners but its ok to understand some basic stuff.

I just want to say that I loved the first edition of this book. It was the first time I truly felt I understood JPA. I'm looking forward to getting the second edition.

The distance between the lines is bit narrow, probably because of the much stuff in the book. The illustrations in it seem very clear.
I just read the introduction which reads very good and woke some very high expectations.
Cite: "Storing and retrieving data ist a multibillion dollar business" => seems to be a truth, therefore Oracle eat Sun !
Up to now data storage was a thing of lower importance. Beginning to read your book, it seems to me more than before that this book deals with a VERY IMPORTANT subject.
