I need to find a JPG / TIFF viewer which should do the following:
- be embedded into Web Browser
- zoom, print, export, rotation
- be able creating annotations inside of an image and uploading the updated image back to server

If someone knows a good viewer / used to work in this area, your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Since you posted this in a Java forum, are you looking for an applet solution?

If ImageIO can support TIFF files (can't remember if it does so automatically) you can use BufferedImage for all operations. Keep in mind that to use a BufferedImage on a web application you will probably need to use an Applet (JApplet) as Ulf suggested. With servlets / JSP pages it's still possible to use BufferedImage but you will probably need to store it in your session somehow* and render it (using ImageIO) every time you need to display it.

* BufferedImage is not Serializable...

Thanks for you reply. We are using a Seam-JSF application. I hope this solution fits into it. Thanks

I can't tell form your reply whether you are looking for a client-side solution (like an applet), or if it needs to be HTML/CSS/JavaScript.

I am looking for options available in client side..i.e using Applets or may be embedding .swf (flash file) into the html. Thanks.

A good starting point might be ImageJ - it's an applet and application that performs image manipulation, is open source, highly capable and highly customizable (which you'd probably want to do as its default configuration is unlikely to be what you're looking for).

I'll move this to our JSF forum, maybe someone there has better ideas of how to do this. They may confirm the applet / SWF option, or come up with something better.
