Background: Our micro framework used a
struts based controller that eventually generated a table model for the web UI. The table model is a complex aggregate that abstracted the notion of tabular display of data.
The table model can tell what cols are editable, sortable, paging info so on so forth. This model was created and stored in the request scope for the page to render.
The second aspect of this framework a small bunch of custom tags that understood this table model. It only talks with the model and renders the page delegating to appropriate sub-components.
Question: Is this push or pull based approach?
I think its some sort of pull based as
1) The custom tags are model bound and model aware.
2) Custom tags 'pull' in desired data from the model. Otherwise, the page (
jsp) would behave as a channel between model & custom tags pushing all the desired context & data as attributes/parms to a custom tag.
What do rest of you think?
