Some web sites suggest that you should never ask salary or hourly rate range too early. You should keep it to the very end after you are done with all the interviews, etc.

Dude, I am talking about seeking jobs in the USA , not India or any other country, OK ? I have to mention this because I saw soo many posts discussing jobs in India..

My experience is, if you are an experienced developer you better check the salary or rate if you don't want to waste your time. I have had some bad experience that I spent lot of time in going through the interviews but it turned out their salary or hourly rate was far below what I expected and they told me that's their budget. So after that I always first check what is the range, I understand what they are going to pay me dependson the interview a lot, but if the range is not even close, no matter how well you do in your interview you can't get it. What's the point to waste your time to go through the interview if their high end is 20k less than you expected ? Well, only if you *really* love the job then it is a different story...

what do you guys think ?
