ssh disabled

I have a bizarre problem. One of our application that uses ssh is now failing right on ssh. I can see no key file or authorized key file or sshd_config change. I need to convince our security department that it is something related to this since our ssh fails. What else can they change. Worse, they claim this should not have been working to begin with. I have a command like this

ssh -l {id i m sshing as} {box name} {location of script to run and its parameters}.

This was a working application until few days ago.
