Hi,

I have just accepted a job offer for junior Java developer.
I am confused about how to prepare for my job now before my 1st day on work.
The requiremets of job are servlet, JDBC, mySQL, swing. I am refreshing my tknowledge. Should I do anything else (practicing programs etc?)?
Please advice.
Your help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Do a bit of a reading about the software development life cycle if you are not already familiar with it.

If you already know what IDE is being used have a bit of a play with it.

And congratulations on the offer.

Phone the company and ask what training opportunities there are. Phone the team you will be working with and ask their suggestions.

start with 1000 one hand push-up plus java coding with other hand and dont use any IDE, use only a text editor with no mouse

the above routine is mandatory for all freshers

kidding ...

just relax and try the development environment the company uses, like their build process, their version control system, their coding styles(most companies have somewhat unique coding style, in terms of naming of variables n all).

You have to do the coding with your left hand and the press-ups with your right hand.

First of all I would like to congratulate you for being selected for this job. Look for the companies website and collect some information about the company also look for some information that you could get from different places. Refer some basics of Java so that you could have some confidence. Most importantly relax yourself and look towards the positive aspect and always be before the time on the first day so that you can mingle with some colleagues.
