Is it possible to determine, using a desktop Java application, whether the underlying system is using VPN to connect to the Internet/ a particular website?
Thanks.
cheers

You insist on an answer? Okay, then. I don't know. It's very unlikely.
Anyway when I use the VPN connection on my computer, I'm using it to connect to my company's network. Not to the Internet. I can't really picture using a VPN connection to the Internet. How would the Internet be authenticating it?
Now, since it's very unlikely you're going to be able to do that, let's go back a step. What's the requirement you have which you thought that was a solution to? And why did you need a Java solution?

There are parties on the Internet that allow you to register, then create a VPN connection to them so you can browse anonymous. ItsHidden is one of them.
