Hi all,
I hope you are well. I have been a long time lurker of these forums and finally had the urge to ask a question regarding the SCJP.
Please forgive me if this is answered elsewhere, I did search for it but was unable to find an answer.
I am planning to go ahead with SCJP in about a month, and am scoring well on JQPLus mock exams (in the 70%-80% range) but I am finding the mock exams from K & B much more taxing. Which most closely resembles the difficulty level of the real thing?
Thanks.

You must try ExamLab. It will prepare you thoroughly for the real-time exam. Re-go through the K&B book.
And concentrate on it, what it is saying. Believe me, every statement has some tip. Being a java programmer myself,
when i started i just skimmed through the surface. When i started tackling the exercise problems, every self-test question,
scoring 50%, rest will go wrong due to one silly mistake or lack of concentration. Later i started visiting java-ranch regularly,
and after one question or the other, i started feeling, there is something lacking. Am i not prepared well, or may be exam is too
hard. Then i silently reading K&B again and with proper concentration and found out, it was my mistake, i took the theory too lightly.
That is why i had to drop the exam one time. So before judging anything, re-visit all concepts again and then try for Master Exam,
you might not find it that much taxing.

Just a tip and experience i am sharing.

Best Regards,

Hi Prithvi,
Thanks for the response there. I am actually trying to get ExamLab to work, but I have Windows 7 64-bit and I am having an issue with Microsoft JET driver which is preventing the simulator from working. Any advice for that?

Please try out the beta version which doesn't require the JET driver.

I have been reading that: generally people tend to score 5-8% higher on the SCJP than they do on the JQ+ mock tests, is this a fair estimation?

I don't think so. Sometimes you score bad on some exam simulator doesn't mean you will perform the same in real exam also.
I would suggest that you taken Exam Lab is a learning tool rather then the tool to judge your score on the real exam. It will only
make you nervous and you will make mistakes in real exam. Practice more exams and see where do you stand.

Thanks,

Thanks for resource . But questions are very simple on it . I pass with 87 % of SCJP with beta exam . Is real exam so simple?

Not really,

Try ExamLab and see the difficulty of the exam.

Good luck,

Is ExamLab difficulty closer to the real thing than, say, JQ+?

ExamLab is much tough than the real exam.
It is made in that way to make you to use it as a learning tool instead of a testing tool.
