B&S: after booking should clients be notified?

Hi all,

as per the headline. Once a client makes a booking, should all other clients be notified of this? There doesn't seem to be a requirement for this, but in real life this is the kind of thing I think would be an implicit requirement.

I've seen various discussions about this on the forum but no real consensus. Similarly should clients be notified if the server shuts down?

I'm using RMI for my network protocol. If I need to notify clients then I've got to use RMI callbacks and from my initial attempts at this, I would need to serialize things I don't want to (such as GUIs). So I suppose I favour not doing it...

Regards,

John

Hi John,

My approach is to make things as simple as possible.
That way the code and maintenance tasks by a junior developer will be a lot easier.

Unless it is a MUST requirement I don't bother implementing things that are not
in the assignment requirements.

I would definitely mention it in the choices.txt file.

HTH,

Carlos.

Cheers Carlos,

I'll go with that then (make it as simple as possible) and explain in choices.txt.

That's the true spirit for this assignment
