Hey all.
Can we use frameworks (like JSF) to build a real and working e-commerce applications (like Amazon or ebay) ?
I am not a expert, but it seems to me that JSF or Struts only works with web forms and can't use these frameworks alone to build a real applications.
please correct me if I'm wrong.
thanks.

Sites with Struts

I'm not sure what you mean by "alone".
JSF and Struts ARE front-end technologies. They won't replace something like EJBs.

They could be used in large apps that require transactions though if that is what you are asking.

No, I mean they are just dealing with forms (like submit forms).

Again, they are front-end frameworks. Forms are a large part of the front-end, but you also need to do something meaningful with the data collected in the forms.

I perceive your question as similar to "Can I make a ham sandwich with nothing but products made by Wonder? I don't think so because Wonder only makes bread."

The fact that Wonder does not make ham is not so much a limitation of Wonder - the beauty is that I can use their bread and make whatever kind of sandwich I want. Neither would I consider JSF or Struts being limited for not being an all-encompassing application framework.

I'm getting hungry. Time to eat.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
