Hi all, just a general question. These are the # of posts on coderanch that I see for the various certifications:
LOL. I am thinking about learning and then going for the SCDJWS exam. I have experience building web services, but when I look at the material and knowledge required for this test, it is HUGE. We need to learn lots of stuff before attempting this one. I know, we can learn, take some practice tests and then pass, but my intention is to really learn some of this stuff.
But ... I don't understand why there are so few posts in this forum??? Am I missing something? Is the topic of web services not very popular? Or not very much in demand? Kindly discuss your thoughts on this. Should I go ahead and study this stuff or is it better to spend my time on some other certification?
Also, please let me know if I posted this to the wrong forum.

Yes, it is a quite demanding certification and I suspect that this is the reason why people shy away.
As I have said before, I personally feel that the question whether to take the certification or not is to be determined by your area of interest.
Finally, if you decided to prepare for SCDJWS, my advice is not to rush it (as far as time is concerned).

I suspect one reason is that the exam mainly covers SOAP-based services, whereas the WS world is now rapidly embracing RESTful services.
In my eyes one big point why this area of the forum is quite passive is the fact that for the SCDJWS there are only a few mock tests. In other certification forums you 'll find a lot of very helpfully posts/questions about (wrong) answers in mock exams, e.g. "Why is answer a not right?" or "Doubts on Whizlabs Question 44".
Another fact why there are not so many posts is the fact that here exists also "webservice"-forum which covers very similar topics.
