Hi guys,

I started learning for this exam a few months ago. I'm wondering now if it is worth
learning an older technology when Java EE 6 is already "on fire" ?

What do you think ? Can somebody give me good reasons to keep on studying Java EE 5 ?
Is it only that is no certification available for Java EE 6 or what ?

Are there big differences in the servlet/jsp area between Java EE 5 and 6 ?

Thanks,
Liviu

Liviu,

How can it be 'on fire' when the completed spec is just a few months old ... is it not?

If I recall corrrectly most of the major additions are centered around EJB which isn't on this SCWCD exam at all and JPA (or 'persistence' which is database access and serialization) which is also not on the test.

Whether or not to pursue a certification is a personal choice but the new JavaEE 6 spec doesnt seem to invalidate SCWCD or make it less 'hot'.

(PS: Oracle/Sun is still offering the test ... )

Hi Keith,

Thanks for your answer and sorry for my stupid question.
I looked for the differences in the new Servlet specification,
only some new annotations stuff, the rest is untouched.

Thanks again,
Liviu
