Hi All,
Is there a decent and free XML editor out there? I'm looking for one that can at least validate a XML document against a corresponding DTD. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I use "Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition" (free) for editing XML files and liked it.
You may try it

I am using Altova XMLSpy, but it is not freeware. Also for basic editing I use the eclipse.

Thanks guys. I assume it checks against any supplied DTDs as well? That's really what I'm looking for, editing the xmls I wouldn't even care about doing in notepad if I had to. :-)

I think Altova has some free utilities for checking DTDs and Schemas.

I just looked it up! Here is their free download page.

There is even a "community edition" editor which looks very attractive. I purchased XML Spy years ago and never regretted it.
