I tried the following statement.

But it is throwing the following exception

What i want to do is....
I want to compare this id value against a map object key like this.

Can any one help me out

You can't embed a custom tag in the attribute value of another custom tag.

Look up <c:set> and you will see that there's an alternative format that you can use.
