Hi all, I am currently a sophomore @ Rutgers Univ. and majoring in Econ. + Math. I took Intro to Comp Science class this semester.
Although I studied Java in high school, I found the college level Java to be quite interesting. We learnt about arrays, string methods, linked lists, recursion, and other basic stuff.
However, programming is not in my "preference list" as far as a career is concerned. But because I have studied basic Java and have interest in that, I was thinking maybe I could get a certification in that.
I know a couple of people who are SCJP level (still took the same course and did worse than me ). They say that it never hurts to get a certification when you already have the knowledge. and I agree with that.
But I wanted to get the opinion of professionals who work in this field. So, summer is coming up, I will be almost free for the next 4 months. Should I go ahead and commit myself to getting SCJA certification this summer? or do you think it would be a waste of time?
