Difference between Prepared Statement and JDBC template

I'm new to Spring and trying to understand the difference between using a
Template(like SimpleJdbcTemplate) and a prepared statement.
Any guidance is appreciated.
Looking for valuable inputs from you all.

One's a Spring class (which uses PreparedStatements), one isn't?
