Does anyone know where to find the pipe character on the iPad? I tried holding down various keys to see other options, but no luck. Am I missing it? Is there a "key map" somewhere with more characters?

It's on the 3rd keyboard layout.

From the numeric keyboard, tap the key marked #+=.

P.S. Interesting that you asked about that on your first day. The pipe character doesn't come up much when writing text.

Thanks Bear. As you can see one of my passwords as a pipe in it. That doesn't give much away .

My other problem is that I don't know a lot my passwords. I rely on spatial/tactile memory and know how to type them. This issue came up when I got a BlackBerry too. I had to look at a real keyboard to find out what my passwords were!

Also, am I in the wrong forum? Should this be in the Mac OS forum? It's a legitimate question.

I think discussions about the iPad are pretty meaningless...

I'm continually surprised how much this thing has insinuated itself into my daily life -- both at work and at home.

Moved to the Mac OS forum.
