I was checking out Joyce's moose badge, and I noticed a category titled RMI where XML used to be. I have been out of touch for a while, but now I have to research RMI. I am embarrassed to admit I don't even know what it is!

Hi Carol,

Basically, Remote Method Invocation (RMI) is a distribution mechanism which allows two Java programs running on separate Java Virtual Machine (JVM) to talk to each other. For example, program A (client) can invoke methods in program B (server) through RMI. You might want to read the Sun tutorial: RMI.

EJBs are based on RMI. Thus the RMI assignments come before the EJB assignments.
