currently i am simply reading the HFSJ book except i did some coding in chapter 3 and 4, and i need to take that exam as soon as possible but i am doubtful of my success without writing some codes while studying??

Writing some code is the best way to learn anything. Memorizing information in a book doesn't really help much if you don't try to use it in some actual code. When I say write some code, it doesn't necessarily mean write the code given in the book as-is. Try to experiment with things, write code on your own, peek into the book only for reference not to write the exact same code...
