Hi Luke,

Great ! . The Thing here is your Imagination goes because Both related to Security.
In Real World why don't we compare with Security Guard(Man infront of Gates) in Our Office Arena.
The Purpose and Fulnctionality is those definitions only Gives , But Both are relevent
Position.

Intercepting Filter : we can use as Security(control the request/response for analysis to allow for next Layer).
Normal Filter:we can use as Associate Security(supporting functionality to control the request/response)

I am poor in English , Can you please understand the intent what I am saying.

A simple Example shows which is provider , which is supporter for provider.

Cheers!
Prathap.

Filter is a Servlet feature. Intercepting filter is a design pattern which suggests one of the ways to use Filter.
