I was looking at SalesForce web site but couldn't understand the idea about this. Can any body tell me what is it all about?

Why, it's "the leader in customer relationship management (CRM) & cloud computing"!
'Scuse me, I need to go brush my teeth after saying that.

"SalesForce" is Billy Mays' variation on Newton's Second Law.

IMHO, salesforce.com is very popular with small companies, and starting to be used by large companies as well. Larger companies used to have people that build systems that integrate the sales force, with support and other parts of the company -- collaboration, share data, blah, blah, blah. Small companies don't have that, so they use salesforce.com, and have the other parts of the companies integrate with it (or they can use salesforce.com too). Larger companies are using it as well, sort of like outsourcing their old collaboration application.
