Hi All,

For my new project I need to use a portal and CMS kindly help me in selecting the best one.

I will be using Jboss as application server.

1.which portal I should use Jboss portal or liferay ?

2.As CMS is supported by portals itself, then does it required to use a separate CMS ?

Thanks,
Chandra

It's really too tough a question to answer this simplistically. It's like "Windows or Mac." It just can't be summed up in a forum posting.

I think both portals are excellent. Since you already have JBoss as your AS, that would lean me towards using a JBoss portal.

Thanks for the reply.

But when I checked some sites it says that Liferay is having better CMS support and some extra features.

Hi Chandraprabha,

you may use Liferay portal.

Examples:

http://liferay.cignex.com/

Liferay portal: liferay.com
Liferay social office: http://liferay.cignex.com:9090/

Thanks a lot for reply.

I am going to use Liferay on Jboss. So i have integrated Liferay with Jboss ..

to create portlet i am thinking of developing the portlet using spring and deploy them on Liferay using UI.Please let me know if this method has some loop holes.

Second i want to use SSO and OpenDs .Kindly help me in integrating this.

Chandra

I have not used Liferay CMS features, but if you looking for CMS / ECM I would
suggest Alfresco open source ECM.

Liferay experts can comment on level of depth Liferay CMS provides as compared Alfresco ECM.

Thanks,
Nikesh

Liferay provides required, basic CMS features. But Alfresco provides enhanced, sophisticated CMS features. If you need extended CMS support/features, you can still use Alfresco with Liferay combination. Result .... you get the best of both.
