Hello,
I am working as a QA lead, I want to finish the SCJA certification since recruiters ask for Java, .Net or other languages for QA analysts too. Since I am always fascinated by Java, I want to study Java.

My background - I have a Masters in Arts and have no programming knowledge. Learned C language 12 years back and hardly remember anything. I have no idea about Object oriented concepts.
Can somebody tell me about the following ...

1. how hard it is for a non-computer science person to venture into SCJA ?
2. how long I need to study to finish the certification exam successfully ?
3. Will be able to get the certificate with just theory and no practice ?

Thanks for the help.

> If you are a logical thinker (regardless of technical background) and can commit to the subject matter, you'll pass the exam.

2. how long I need to study to finish the certification exam successfully ?
> Between 2-6 months.

3. Will be able to get the certificate with just theory and no practice ?
> Yes and No. Yes on the Java-technology related questions. No on the Java fundamentals questions. Start your research by examining short-circuit operators and you'll see what I mean... If you aren't willing to build and run small Java programs, you shouldn't take the exam.

Good luck on your endeavors and I wish you well studying for the exam.
