a) I notice they are not on the current Oracle/Sun objectives
b) Explicitly mentioned in the McGraw Hill Book that "they are not included" (see p. 473)
However I see two references in the Ranches list of trip/traps.
Need one worry about this topic? (i.e. API, place in the inheritance tree, etc.)

Got a link to the trips page ? Perhaps it is outdated and needs an update.
To my knowledge they are indeed not included in the exam as you have pointed out
